NMUN 2011 Delegation embarks on study trip

Tonight, 10 delegates from the Universities of Duisburg-Essen, Bochum and Dortmund embark to New York City to represent the Kingdom of Norway at the world’s largest Model UN conference. It marks DuEMUN’s 6th participation at one of the most prestigious conference venues in the heart of Manhattan. Having represented China, India, Egypt, Angola and Eritrea in the last years, DuEMUN delegates are looking forward to a new experience as Head of Delegation, Nils Macher explains: “DuEMUN has either represented developing countries and/or really big countries in the last years. Now with Norway it’s quite a different feeling and we are happy to be “Norwegian diplomats” for the next two weeks.” In the course of their study trip, the delegation will hold preparatory interviews with Permanent Missions, NGOs, UN Offices and the Media in New york City. “The conference requires a lot of participation so we try to get direct expertise in New York which wouldn’t be possible here in Germany. It is a unique opportunity for us to speak with diplomats and UN experts on the topics we are debatting next week.” says Jana Maroski, delegate to the NPT Review Conference.

Delegates will report frequently on this website for the next week about their interviews, conference impressions and the life in New York City. Stay tuned!
