Meet the Team
Katharina Meven
|
Born 1987, is the president of the Duisburg Essen Model United Nations and in charge of all legal matters. She is the head behind all activities through the academic year 2011/2012. Katharina was a law student in Düsseldorf and transferred 2009 to university Duisburg-Essen to study political science. This year she is an Erasmus exchange student at Middle East Technical University in Ankara/Turkey. From her beginning here she was an active member of the club and supported the DuEMUN as the treasurer 2010-2011. She was the Co-organizer of DuEMUN conference VII and will reprise her role for DuEMUN VIII next year. Also she will be head of delegation for the international MUNS this year, which include SMUN in Stockholm and WorldMUN in Vancouver. |
Jörg Langerwisch

Mr. Langerwisch studies political science in his fifth semester at university Duisburg- Essen. As Vice-President he organises the conference and especially the closing debate. In addition he is in charge of fundraising and sponsoring.
His special interests are development policy, the European Union, migration policy and international relations. The DuEMUN VIII will be his third DuEMUN experience. Specialised on topics of the European Union, he well knows the processes of policy in this committee.
Outside of his political studies, he has an interest in archaeology, climate processes and some sport activities, like swimming and yoga. He also likes to make some daytrips to European metropolises. |
Nikola Schmidt

Ms. Schmidt is the second vice-president of our Model United Nations Club and is in charge of public relations and media. It is her third semester studying political science at university Duisburg-Essen and she attended the DuEMUN conference VII as the delegate of Luxembourg in the Council of the European Union. She is gonna be part of the organization team for DuEMUN VIII and will keep up the contact with local media and press. Along with the rest of our team she is gonna participate in the international MUNs in Stockholm and Vancouver. |
Melike Vardar

Melike Vardar is a student of political science at the University of Duisburg-Essen. She is part of the Welcome-Team for all new students in the winter semester 2011-2012 and will be organizing the DuEMUN VIII, where she will revert of her experience as a delegate in 2010. Additionally, Ms. Vardar will join delegations at international MUNs. |
Ioannis Giotis

My name is Ioannis Giotis and I am studying political science at the University of Duisburg-Essen. I recently became the new vice-treasure of DuEMUN. My job is to make the prospective income and expenditure of the organization transparent to all! The DuEMUN VIII was my first simulation and next year I will probably attend at the WorldMUN in Canada. |
