The Ruhr Metropolis is excellently connected to a network of trains, motorways and airports. Duisburg lies in the westernmost part of the Ruhr Area and can easily be reached with the following means of transportation.

By Plane

There are several airports within reach of the Ruhr Area. You will find a selection of the most common below.

Airport Düsseldorf

The airport of Düsseldorf is located south of Duisburg and has its own train station. The transfer from the terminals A, B and C to the station “Düsseldorf Flughafen” is provided through the Sky Train. There are several trains (for example RE3, RE5, RE6) going into the direction of Duisburg at regular intervals. These can be used with a public transport ticket.  Estimated time of travel is ten to fifteen minutes.

Dortmund Airport

This international Airport is directly connected to Duisburg via light rail. Travel time is roughly 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Airport Weeze

Participants from Europe and North Africa can easily reach Duisburg from Airport Weeze, which mostly operates low cost carriers, via light rail and direct buses. Estimated time of travel is one hour. Be advised: Carriers may refer to the airport as Düsseldorf (Weeze)

Köln Bonn Airport
